The Clink Prison Museum is one of England’s oldest (if not the oldest) prisons and it dates back to 1144. As a visitor, you’ll be able to experience the prison – hands on! You can handle original artefacts (including the torture devices!). You’ll be told amazing tales of the inmates at the Clink too.
The Clink Prison Museum is linked to the Gunpowder Plot, Babbington Plot & many other historical events. Many visitors to the museum have claimed to have heard & seen a variety of strange happenings, from people walking through walls & many other unexplainable events. Paranormal investigators have found the prison to be very active with many strange goings on – from glasses smashing to doors opening and closing on their own.
The museum is quite small, but well worth the trip. You’ll need only a couple of hours to tour the prison and make sure you read all the information found on the walls to get the most out of the trip. This isn’t on the same scale as the London Dungeons, but is a far more intimate affair which you’ll most certainly enjoy!
