Bristol’s first dedicated sewing cafe! Its a bright & cosy Sewing Parlour set up in the basement of this building, with sewing machines available to hire by-the-hour throughout the day.
It’s a friendly environment in which to sew, knit or be creative with friends.
You can pop along any day of the week* to Sew-by-the-Hour for £5 which includes a hot drink from the tea room. There is usually someone on hand to help you set up a machine and answer any simple queries. They also allow you to bring your own sewing machine and you can book a private sewing lesson too.
Cafe Sewciety promotes you having your own sewing party! For me all this conjures up a vision of turning up with the hem of my dress hanging down and doing a quick de-robe, sat in my undies whilst sewing the hem of my dress. (A little bit like the Levi advert where the guy goes into the laundrette strips off and washes his jeans…he sits there in his boxers).
We are assured that Cafe Sewciety serve scrumptious homemade cakes, brunches, lunches & afternoon teas available from the tea room – along with the locally supplied loose leaf teas, artisan coffee & soft drinks.
Cake, Tea, a bit of banter whilst you mend your clothing. MEND your clothing or MAKE your clothing…….now that’s what we call quirky. I just wish we had one in our home town!
