Australasia is a must visit place for anyone who happens to be in Manchester. The décor is fabulous and the sound system is controlled at reception by the largest “tablet” I have ever seen. (It is a DJ’s music deck – very space age and it looked interesting and impressive.
Mr Q and I have visited this bar on more than one occasion so on this occasion we can speak from experience.
The whole place is a stylish cream coloured décor which made it feel very fresh and modern. The staff were all very good looking and very attentive.
The food is modern Australian cuisine combining Pacific Rim flavours underpinned by European cooking tradition, a blend of Indonesian, Southeast Asian influences and Australia’s strong ties with Japan also help determine the taste and style.
We had some quirky cocktails here. One had chilli in it and too a long time to drink as it was hot, hot, hot. It tasted good so we were not going to be rushed.
We also tried the Oysters here. They looked impressive when they arrived on a sliver platter with ice. Mr Q knows I don’t like Oysters. I can cope with them cooked and in a sauce but not raw. No way. I made the mistake of telling the waiter this. He took them away and cooked them for me. Within 10 minutes the previously refused Oysters were in front of me again. “Thank You” I muttered under my breath, actually meaning “Why do these waiters have to be so blooming attentive?” Grrrrr!!!! Well I ate them. .. not willingly and I wont be eating them again. But the point is you cant fault the service here.
We know that after 11.30 at night the lights in the bar dim and the resident DJ’s play sultry, seductive music. The bar is really the place to be seen for those who are young and beautiful…or those with money. Or those who like to think or pretend they are either. (Enter Mr Q and Mrs W – The wannabes)
Whatever! This IS a must see..must do. So …Do it!!!!
